Man sentenced to three Months Imprisonment For Stealing Kegs Of Palm Oil In Osun

For stealing 25 kegs of palm oil worth N125, 000, an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Ifetedo yesterday sentenced 25-year-old Afeez Ismaila to three months imprisonment.
Ismaila who opted to be tried by the court was jailed by Magistrate (Mrs) Dorcas Ajiboye, after he pleaded guilty to a one count charge of stealing.
Ajiboye did not give the convict an option of fine, saying the punishment would serve as a deterrent to those who might want to engage in similar act.
Earlier, the prosecutor, James Obaletan, explained to the court how Mr Marcus Odetade of Ogbon-Ori via Ifetedo in Ife South LG Area of Osun lodged complaint against Ismaila on July 17 in their office.
Obaletan said the accused person trespassed into the complainant’s house on July 3 and carted away 25 kegs of 25 litres palm oil valued at N125, 000 to an unknown destination.
He added that the accused was later arrested, during police investigation, he confessed that he stole 15 kegs of palm oil and sold only twelve kegs for N60, 000 with  about three kegs pouring away while in transit.
